Fun for the curious

Handy when travelling or for the curious who want to know how high that hill is...

Great for hiking new terrain

Recently used this on a hike. It was great for visualizing how much further to the peak elevation, as well as the nice decent wed enjoy after we topped it.

Nice but not there

- while a nice concept the program has a few flaws. - it does not point in the direction you are heading but is skewed by 45 degrees. The phone has to be rotated for the app to point correctly. And no, its not the phone as the compass app works. - the radar graphic is cute but gets old fast. Have a setting to turn it off.

Awesome idea, awesome app

Simple and easy to use. This is one of the few apps Im impressed with.

Great app

I recommend to my friends.......

Good Earth/Drone copy--bad

Its basically a worse version of Google Earth, with features you dont need. It shows an ariel view with the altitude in feet, and has a pointless green chart of the feet, yet again, on the top part of the screen. Moving the phone makes the screen move, but its a frustrating experience that needs a lot of tweaking. This app feels like a bad drone/Google Earth similar. Could be much, much better.

Seems worthwhile but...

No way to contact developer. Dont use Facebook but recommend to two friends- would like to get the extended range.

Not bad

Its good for what it is for but for the price it needs more in it (I got it free, dont know if I would buy it)

Like the idea

Not entirely accurate, hopefully will correct with future updates.

Works great for UAV

I fly a quadcopter and this apps great. I know how high I can fly and how far higher terrain is. I recommend this app !

Puffery and unfilled promises

The apps description is much more than what is delivered. As bought, the app has only a limited horizontal range which will be extended if you write a review. Selling cripple-ware and blackmailing customers for a review may be appropriate for a free app, but strikes me strong-handed in a paid app. Just my thoughts.

Nice little app.

I like knowing where I am and which direction Im pointed towards. This app fills the bill. Needs to have compass to show geographic accuracy.

Super

Super App., was will man mehr....

Nice!

You direct a beam, superimposed on a map, over the area for which you want to see a contour cross-section, by turning the iPhone or iPad. At first, I thought the app was malfunctioning because mine showed a 100m spike in the centre of my city where I know the land to be flat. After much checking of contour maps, I realized that the app uses the space-origin ASTER GDEM data, which employs stereo pairs for terrain mapping. This probably means that the tall buildings in the centre of the city were averaged out into a single point 100m higher than the surrounding land. That is no fault of the app. So far as I can tell, the app works well once you understand the limitations of the data source. It also works offline, presumably from cached data, if you have previously looked at an area, although it does not cache the map. The only feature that may be essential, but which may be absent, is the ability to download the elevation and map data for an area so that the app works offline. I hike in a lot of radio dead zones or outside of cellular coverage, so even with a good cellular data plan, the app isnt going to be much use to me in those areas. It is a common fault of many apps designed for use in the great outdoors that they are dependent upon a reliable Internet connection, which commonly does not exist in the areas where the app is likely to be the most useful. In summary, this is a very good 1.0 release. I am interested to see where it goes.

Very nice app!

Seems to work very well and I can tell you it works in Canada too. A way to cache maps so it works in the bush and more remote ski resorts would be great.

Great app with small problem

The lite version graph correctly updated distant terrain altitude on my iPhone 5 but the full version is not. Would have been a 5 star review had the functions worked correctly on full version.

needs a lock button

need to be able to lock in a bearing so you can look at altitudes even if you arent facing the same way

Nice Concept

Version 1.1 This version improved the maps, gui, and overall precision. Im really glad to see the advancements with this app. I would still like to see a gyro-lock, but Im really liking the improvements. Version 1.0 I like the idea behind this application; it has lots of potential. Things I would probably include in a future version: more precision, elevation lost or gained, distances from point A to B, gyro-lock, and gui graphics/topography could be improved. Its obviously the first version and in the early stages, but cool nonetheless.

Nice

Cool interface. Could be better w improved autoscaling on graph y-axis.
